Project Activities

The project is structured in a number of workpackages, each one with clear objectives and expected results.

Amongst the project activities are the following:

• Review of the current status in the water supply and demand in Aegean islands

• Comparative evaluation of different water supply methods (eg. desalination, dams etc)

• Development of an optimization model for the water system that takes into account different supply methods and water demand patterns

• Investigation of the potential for the combined production of clean water and energy

• Implementation of the optimisation model in various representative islands

• Synthesis of project results and recommendations for the optimal operation of water systems

• Project management and quality assurance

• Results dissemination
